ProtoMap’s AI features run on AI providers your organization connects with its own API keys, under the terms you hold with each provider. Manage them under Settings › AI Agents. Everyone can see the page; Owners and Admins can change it.

AI is optional. Scans, the graph, and the workspace work without it. AI powers:

  • The assistant, which answers questions about your services in plain English.
  • Graph reviews, which judge how likely each uncertain flow is to be real.

Your repositories are never sent wholesale. When you chat, the provider receives your messages and the graph data the assistant reads to answer them, including code snippets at the locations it looks at. A graph review sends the evidence of the flows it reviews.

  1. Go to Settings › AI Agents and click Add Provider.
  2. Choose the provider and enter its API key, which ProtoMap saves encrypted on the server.
  3. Fill in the provider’s other fields, if any (see below), and click Verify and Connect. ProtoMap sends a test prompt to check the connection.

You can connect more than one provider. Each chat picks one in the composer toolbar. Edit changes a provider’s key or settings, and Disconnect deletes its key; chats and reviews that use it stop. A provider that stops working is marked Needs attention.

Provider What you enter
Anthropic API key
OpenAI API key
xAI Grok API key
Google Gemini API key
Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform API key and model ID
Amazon Bedrock API key and AWS region
Microsoft Foundry API key, endpoint (such as https://your-resource.openai.azure.com), and deployment name
TypeSafe Jev API key. For graph reviews only, not chat.

ProtoMap keeps its list of models up to date, so new models appear in the model picker without an upgrade. On a self-hosted server that cannot reach the internet, the list that came with the release is used.

A graph review judges how likely each uncertain flow is to be real, so you can tell the flows that matter from the ones ProtoMap kept to be safe. Under Graph Review, choose a Review Provider. After each scan, it reviews the new uncertain flows, and each flow shows its result, such as 85% likely real. Choose None to turn reviews off.

Reviews cover the shared graph. Private scans show the scanner’s results only.

Owners and Admins can see the AI usage of the last 30 days under Settings › Usage: the responses and tokens each user used, by provider and model.
