The assistant answers questions about your gRPC services in plain English. It reads the same graph you see in the workspace, answers with file locations, and opens views and diagrams in the chat’s workspace so you can check its answers.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”The assistant runs on an AI provider your organization connects with its own API key, such as Anthropic or OpenAI. If none is connected yet, Owners and Admins see Configure AI Agents below the composer; everyone else is asked to contact one of them.
The assistant answers from your scanned repositories, so scan a repository first.
Asking Questions
Section titled “Asking Questions”Click New Chat in the sidebar, or press ⌘ ⇧ O (Ctrl ⇧ O), and type your question in the composer. Press Enter to send it, and ⌘ Enter (Ctrl Enter) for a new line.
A new chat suggests questions to start with:
- List all gRPC services
- Show the 10 most connected gRPC services
- Which services depend on <service>?
- Which services call <RPC method>?
- What is the blast radius of changing <field name>?
Picking one with a placeholder puts it in the composer with the placeholder selected, ready for you to type a name.
Other questions it answers well:
- Draw the sequence of calls when a customer places an order.
- Where does
PlaceOrderRequest.user_idend up? - Where in the code is
PaymentService/Chargecalled? - Who maintains
CheckoutService?
Answers and the Workspace
Section titled “Answers and the Workspace”Each chat has its own workspace. As the assistant works, the views it opens — a service and its callers, a flow, a diagram it drew — appear there, and its message lists them under Shown in the workspace so you can reopen them. The message also summarizes the graph queries it ran.
Click Ask About This Flow on a flow to start from it.
Provider, Model, and Reasoning Effort
Section titled “Provider, Model, and Reasoning Effort”The composer toolbar shows the provider and model that answer, and the reasoning effort. Click it to choose another. Higher effort can give better answers to hard questions, but takes longer. A chat keeps its provider once it starts; start a new chat to change it.
Managing Chats
Section titled “Managing Chats”- Chats are private to you. Sharing a page shares the workspace view, not the chat.
- Your chats are listed in the sidebar under Pinned and Recent. Right-click one, or use its menu, to rename, pin, or remove it.
- The menu in the chat header places the chat left, right, or below the workspace, or collapses it.
- If a reply fails or you stop it, click Retry.
- Name the service, method, message, or field you mean, with its package if names repeat, such as
hipstershop.CartService. - Ask for the code: the assistant can show the call sites and the steps of a flow, with their locations.
- Verify an answer in the workspace views it opens before acting on it.
- The assistant sees your private scans too, so it can answer about changes you have not pushed yet.
